Yesterday, out of an abundance of caution to slow the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus), Governor DeWine and the State Medical Director recommended that no spectators be permitted at state indoor athletic events, including the tournaments hosted by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA). Following this announcement, the OHSAA provided details about the upcoming State Championship events and the policies that will now be required. These policies will apply to our Ice Hockey Semifinal and Championship games this weekend.
The OHSAA will be limiting access to the tournaments. A maximum of 4 immediate family members of the athletes or coaches participating may purchase restricted tickets for the ice hockey game on Saturday and Sunday via our athletic department. Tickets are $10 and will be valid for both Saturday and Sunday (All-Session Passes) for any New Albany High School games. Again, these new tickets are restricted for immediate family members only and can be purchased in our athletic office beginning Thursday morning and must be purchased by Friday, March 13 at 3:00 pm.
Per OHSAA, if you have already purchased tickets:
-Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster will be fully refunded to the credit card used in the original ticket purchase. Refunds should be processed within 5-10 business days.
-Tickets purchased from the New Albany High School Athletic Department will receive a cash refund by returning the ticket to our office by Friday, March 13 at 3:00 pm.
Please know that any ticket that has been purchased that is not part of the family ticket allocation is now void and will not be accepted at any OHSAA tournament event.
OHSAA will be live streaming the games through Boxcast and the games will be available through the OHSAA website (www.ohsaa.org). Additional details about the stream will be available from OHSAA soon.
We recognize the disappointment this change causes for our dedicated Eagle fans. We look forward to our Ice Hockey team competing for a State Championship in the presence of their families at Nationwide Arena. We thank the staff at OHSAA, Nationwide Arena, and the Columbus Blue Jackets for their diligent work in keeping everyone safe so the games may still be played. GO EAGLES!
